without the authority of such court first had and obtained;
and the said corporation shall have power to collect rents,
ground rents, interest on mortgages, dividends and incomes
of all kinds, open accounts, promissory notes and all kinds of
indebtedness, upon such terms as may be arranged; and it
shall be lawful for any other companies or corporations
chartered or to be chartered under the laws of this State, to
enter into agreement with this company, which shall be for
the common benefit, and will promote the objects, designs
and purposes thereof.

SEC. 18. And be it further enacted, That the said company
shall be and is hereby authorized and empowered to loan
money to the County Commissioners of the respective coun-
ties of this State or to any municipal corporation throughout
the State, to be used in the promotion of any public improve-
ment therein authorized by law, or for any lawful purpose of
any such county or municipal corporation, respectively.

SEC. 19. And be it further enacted, That any officer, agent
or employee of said corporation who shall apply any of the
deposits of any kind of said corporation to his use, or to the
use of any person or persons not entitled thereto without the
consent of the owner of such deposits shall be deemed guilty
of embezzlement, and upon conviction thereof in any court of
this State shall be punished by imprisonment in the peniten-
tiary of this State for a term of not less than one nor more
than ten years, and shall be responsible in any suit in law for
all injury, loss, expense or damage incurred by reason of his
prosecution or in consequence of said Act, either to said cor-
poration or to any party aggrieved, damaged or injured
thereby.

SEC. 20. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 318.
AN ACT to repeal Section two of Article 54 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Land Office," and
Sections eleven and fifteen of same Article as amended and
re-enacted by Acts of the Assembly of eighteen hundred
and ninety-four, Chapter one hundred and ninety-one.
