CHAPTER 38.
AN ACT to authorize the appointment of a Justice of the
Peace who shall have jurisdiction in and for the Town of
Takoma Park.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Governor be and he is hereby authorized and
empowered to appoint a justice of the peace for the Town
of Takoma Park, situated partly in Montgomery and Prince
George's Counties, whose jurisdiction shall be confined to the
limits of said Town.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved March 13, 1900.

CHAPTER 39.

AN ACT to alter and amend the charter, change the name
and grant other and additional power to the "Stockholders
of the Anne Arundel County Academy," a corporation
incorporated by the General Assembly of Maryland by the
Acts of 1856, Chapter 238.

Authority to
appoint Justice
of the Peace
Takoma park.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the name of the "Stockholders of the Anne
Arundel County Academy," a corporation incorporated by
the General Assembly of Maryland by the Acts of 1856,
Chapter 238, be and the same is hereby changed to the name
"The Arundel Academy," which is hereby fixed and estab-
lished as the corporate name of said corporation, which said
corporation by the said name of "The Anne Arundel
Academy," shall have and hold all the property, enjoy all the
rights and privileges, and exercise all the powers and func-
tions not inconsistent with this Act, which were heretofore or
shall hereafter be possessed by or conferred upon the said
corporation under and by its former name. And all gifts,
grants and devises intended for this corporation, but hereto-
fore or hereafter given or made to it in the name of the
"Stockholders of the Anne Arundel County Academy," or
the "Trustees of the Anne Arundel County Academy,"
instead of its name as fixed by this Act, shall inure to the
benefit of and vest and remain in "The Anne Arundel
Academy." And that the said corporation by its name
