SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That an additional section be added to Chapter fifty-two
of the Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-six, entitled an
"Act to incorporate the United States Fidelity and Guaranty
Company,." which section is to read as follows:

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said United States
Fidelity and Guaranty Company, in addition to all the powers
now vested in said company, shall have the further power to
guarantee and indemnify any person or persons, firm or cor-
poration against any and all loss, damage or liability arising
from or occasioned by theft, larceny, robbery or burglary.

Section 2A. That said company, in addition to the powers
heretofore and herein granted it, shall be and is hereby author-
ized and empowered to exercise and perform all of the rights
and powers which it now is and may hereafter be empowered
to exercise in the several States, counties and municipalities
of the United States, in any province, territory or colony of
said United States, and in any foreign country or colony, terri-
tory or province of any foreign country, and to establish
branches and agencies therein.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 262.
AN ACT to pay Harry T. Levely for work done in the office
of the Land Commissioner in indexing the Ancient Records
of Charles County, now in the Land Commissioner's office.

WHEREAS, By Act of the General Assembly of Maryland,
the Ancient Records of Charles County Court, have been
placed in the Land Office of Maryland for the benefit and use
of the general public; and,

|
WHEREAS, said Records were practically useless without a
proper index, and in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-nine
the Governor and the Land Commissioner deemed it proper to
have said Records Indexed, and Harry T. Levely was duly
appointed to index said Records and began work upon the
same on the first day of June A. D. eighteen hundred and
nine-nine and has worked upon said index since that time;
therefore.
