eighteen hundred and ninety-six, Chapter two hundred and
seventy-one, so as to extend the time for the completion of
said railroad.

Southern
Railroad Co.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section twenty-four, of the Charter of the Balti-
more and Southern Railroad Company, as the same was enacted
by Chapter two hundred and seventy-one, of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January Session
eighteen hundred and ninety-six, be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments, so as to read as
follows:

24 The Charter of the Baltimore and Southern Railroad
Company shall become null and void, unless so much of the
said road as lies between Drum Point and a point at least as
far north as Millersville, in Anne Arundel County, shall be
completely constructed, equipped and actually in operation
on or before the first day of November, nineteen hundred and
four .

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 160.
AN ACT to amend the Charter of the Modern Language Asso-
ciation of America of Baltimore City, a body corporate,
duly incorporated under the General Laws of the State of
Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the name of the Modern Language Association of
America of Baltimore City, a body corporate, duly incorporated
by certificate recorded under the provisions of the general
incorporation laws of the State of Maryland, in the Charter
Records of Baltimore City, on the seventh day of March,
nineteen hundred, in Liber R. O., No. 38, folio 407, etc., for
educational, scientific, literary and social objects and purposes,
and more specifically for the promotion of the academic and
scientific study of the English, German, French, Italian and
other so-called modern languages and literatures, be and the
same is hereby changed to the Modern Language Association
of America, and by that name the said body corporate shall
have perpetual succession, and the charter of said body cor-
