is hereby amended so as to conform in all respects to the pro-
visions of this Act.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage, and the General Assembly
of Maryland hereby reserves the right at any time to amend
or repeal the same.

CHAPTER 161.
AN ACT to add five new sections to Article 12 of the Code
of Public Local Laws, title "Garrett County," sub-title,
"Circuit Court," to follow after Section thirty, and to be
designated Sections 3oA, 3oB, 3oC, 3oD and 3oE, author-
izing the appointment of a Stenographic Clerk to the grand
jury, and denning his duties and obligations and pay

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That five additional sections be added to Article 12 of
the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Garrett County," sub-
title "Circuit Court," to follow after Section thirty, and to be
designated as Sections 30A, 30B, 30C, 30D and 30E, author-
izing the appointment of a stenographic clerk to the grand
jury and defining his duties, obligations and pay, and to read
as follows:

Circuit Court.
Garrett Co.

Sec. 30A. Upon the organization of each and every
grand jury as now provided by law, and at the request of
said grand jury signified in writing to the judge or judges
of the Circuit Court, the said judge or judges are authorized
and empowered to appoint a clerk who shall be a competent
stenographer, who shall be subject to such rules and orders
as shall be made and passed by the Circuit Court, and said
clerk, if so directed and required so to do and not otherwise,
shall have authority to be present at all sessions of said
grand jury, and shall take and transcribe the testimony
given before such grand jury, and whenever desired by the
State's attorney, shall attend upon and take and transcribe
the testimony given at the coroner's inquest, and all testimony
so taken and transcribed shall be for the exclusive use of the
grand jury and the State's attorney of said county, unless
otherwise ordered by the Circuit Court.

Sec. 30B. The person so appointed clerk before entering
upon the duties of such office shall take and subscribe
