JOHN WALTER SMITH, ESQ., GOVERNOR.

by the Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, Chapter
four hundred and eighty-three, be and the same is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, so as to read as follows:

Sec. 179. Of the seventy-three jurors so drawn and sum-
moned, the forty-eight names first occurring in the order in
which they were drawn shall attend court at its opening session
for the ensuing term, and the court, at the beginning of said
term, shall select and appoint one from the said forty-eight
jurors who shall be the foreman of the grand jury, and shall
direct the Clerk of the Court to legibly write upon ballots the
names of the remaining forty -seven jurors, and after carefully
folding the said ballots separately, to place them in a box with
sliding top, and said Clerk shall draw said ballots therefrom
one at a time, without looking into said box, and the first
twenty-two names drawn, with the foreman previously ap-
pointed, shall constitute the grand jury, and the remaining
twenty-five shall constitute the petit jury for the first week of
said term. The remaining twenty-five jurors of the seventy-
three drawn and summoned shall constitute the second week's
petit jury for said term, and shall not attend until said second
week, and the panels of petit jurors for the first and second
week shall attend alternately, unless required by the court to
do otherwise, and the Clerk of the Court shall publish for two
successive weeks, before each jury term of said court, in the
newspaper authorised to do the county printing, beginning
with the jury for the October term, nineteen hundred, for said
publication a list of the forty-eight jurors who are required
to attend on the first day of court, and also a list of the
twenty-five jurors who are required to attend on the second
week of court.

CHAPTER 131.
AN ACT to add an additional section to Article 27 of the
Code of Public General Laws, title "Crimes and Punish-
ments," sub-title "Jurisdiction, Procedure and Sentence,"
sub-division "Procedure-Indictments," to be known as
Section 291 C.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That an additional section be added to Article 27 of
the Code of Public General Laws, title "Crimes and Pun-
ishments," sub-title "Jurisdiction, Procedure and Sentence,"
