LAWS OF MARYLAND.

The condition of the roads in each district, the improvements
that have been made in the twelve months ending December
thirty-first of the previous year, the amounts and kind of ma-
terial used on each road, with a detailed statement of its cost
and the amount, and cost of hard material and labor on each
road.

Shall furnish
itemized
monthly state-
ment.

Sec. 192. The Road Commissioners in each district shall
furnish, on or before the tenth of each month, to the Balti-
more County Roads Engineer an itemized statement of their
expenditures for the month just passed, including the cost of
materials used on each road, and the amount of labor per-
formed, and said engineer shall examine said bills, and shall
mark the same approved, if correct, and after the expiration
of one week from the time he has received them, he shall de-
liver all bills marked approved to the County Commissioners,
who shall, after the same have been properly audited, shall
order the payment of all bills and pay rolls, which shall be
properly signed by the chairman and at least one other com-
missioner of the respective districts, and marked approved
by the said engineer to an amount not exceeding the special
road tax collected from said district for that year.

Compensation

Sec. 193. Each Road Commissioner shall be entitled to one
hundred and twenty -five dollars per annum, to cover his per-
sonal expenses; and the County Commissioners are author-
ized to allow any person who may be employed as examiner
of new roads to be altered, bridges to be repaired or built, a
per diem not to exceed two dollars for each day sp employed.

ject to
removal for
cause.

Sec. 194. All Road Commissioners shall be subject to
removal by the County Commissioners for neglect or refusal
to comply with the duties of their office; provided, they shall
be notified of the charge against them in writing by the
County Commissioners, and summoned to appear before them
at a stated time and answer the charge, and if any Commis-
sioner shall resign or be removed, his place shall be filled by
the County Commissioners within thirty days after any
vacancy shall occur.

bridges in
their districts.

Sec. 195. The Road Commissioners herein provided for
shall take charge of all roads and bridges in their respective
districts, and shall see that no obstructions, hindrances or
injury is permitted upon any road or bridge under their sup-
ervision, and when any road or bridge shall form the boundary
between districts, the County Commissioners shall assign to
each district its portion of said road or bridge; and any person
placing obstruction of any kind whatsoever on the public
