CHAPTER 685.
AN ACT to repeal Sections 188 to 217, inclusive, of Article
3 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Baltimore
County," sub-title "Roads," as amended by Chapter forty-
nine and Chapter six hundred and seventy -nine of the Acts
of eighteen hundred and ninety-two, Chapter four hundred
and forty-seven of the Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-
four, Chapter four hundred and sixty-nine of the Acts of
eighteen hundred and ninety-six, and Chapter three hun-
dred and nine of the Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-
eight, and to re-enact the same, with amendments, and to
add five new sections thereto, to be designated Sections
217A, 217B, 217C, 217D, and 217E.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 188 to 217, inclusive, of Article 3 of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Baltimore County," sub-
title "Roads," as amended by Chapter forty -nine and Chapter
six hundred and seventy-nine of the Acts of eighteen hundred
and ninety-two, Chapter four hundred and forty-seven of the
Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-four, Chapter four hun-
dred and sixty-nine of the Acts of eighteen hundred and
ninety-six, and Chapter three hundred and nine of the Acts
of eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, be and the same are
hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, and five
new sections are hereby added thereto, to be designated Sec-
tions 217A, 217B, 217C, 217D and 217E, to follow Section
two hundred and seventeen, and to read as follows:

Sec. 188. The County Commissioners of Baltimore County
shall, on or before the first day of January, nineteen hundred
and one, appoint from each election district, three in such
districts as have three or more election precincts, and two in
those districts which have less than three election precincts,
persons discreet and trustworthy taxpayers, residents and
voters of the district for which they may be appointed, and
who shall have during the one year prior to their appoint-
ment resided in and paid taxes annually on property of at
least an assessed value of five hundred dollars, to act as Road
Commissioners of that district for the term of two years, com-
puting from the first day of January, nineteen hundred and
one, or until their successors are appointed, and the County
Commissioners shall make like appointments at their first
meeting in January in every second year thereafter; that the
