WHEREAS, By an Act passed by the General Assembly of
"Maryland at the January Session of eighteen hundred and
eighty-eight, being Chapter two hundred and ninety of said
Acts, the Maryland Historical Society was directed to send
a copy of each of the volumes that have been or may be pub-
lished of the Archives of Maryland to each of the Circuit
Court of the several counties of the State, to the Court of
Appeals, the Land Office, the Library Company of the Balti-
more Bar, and such historical societies or library companies
in the State as may be approved by the Maryland Historical
Society, and also ten copies of each volume to the State
Library; and
WHEREAS, The Mercantile Library of Talbot County has
not been the recipient of a set of said volumes.

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the State Librarian be and is hereby directed to
send a set of bound volumes of the Archives of Maryland to
the Mercantile Library of Talbot County at Easton, and to
take receipt therefor, providing that said volumes shall be
returned to the said State Library upon demand by the, Gen-
eral Assembly.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 644.
AN ACT authorizing the Antietam Battlefield Commission
of Maryland to transfer to the perpetual care of the Gov-
ernment of the United States the property acquired by them
on the battlefield of Antietam, Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the "Antietam Battlefield Commission of Mary-
land" be and it is hereby authorized to transfer to the per-
petual care of the Government of the United States the lot
of ground, with improvements thereon, situated at the inter-
section of the Hagerstown turnpike and the Smoketown
road, on the battlefield of Antietam, Washington County,
Maryland, acquired by the said Commission under Chapter
two hundred and ninety-four of the Acts of eighteen hundred
and ninety-eight.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
