United States Government growing out of the furnishing
and equipping of Maryland troops for the Volunteer Army
of the United States in the late Spanish-American War,
and providing compensation therefor."
Which was read the second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.
Also, favorably,
Senate bill No. 273, entitled "An Act to create a com-
mission to examine the laws of this State relating to tax-
ation, and to prepare any needed amendments thereof,
and also appropriating money for the expenses of said
commission."
Which was read the second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.
Also, favorably, with proposed amendments,
Senate bill No. 75, entitled "An Act to provide for the
acquisition of a lot of land and the erection thereon
by the State of Maryland, of a building in the city of
Annapolis, in which shall be located the court room, con-
sultation and other rooms of the Court of Appeals, the
State Library or portion thereof, the Comptroller's office,
the Land Commissioner's office, the Tax Commissioner's
office, the Treasurer's office; and for such other purposes
as may be deemed proper, and to appropriate a sum of'
money therefor, and to provide for the removal of the
building upon State House hill, known as the ‘Comp-
troller's Office.'"
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

Strike out all of section 5 of printed bill, after word
"same," in the third line of said section, and insert in
lieu thereof the following: "The sum of $290,000 or so
much thereof as may be necessary is hereby appropriated
out of the loan issued for the purpose and known as the
State Building and Improvement Loan."
Strike out all of section 6.
in the first line of section 7, strike out the fIgure "7”
and insert in lieu thereof the figure "6."
In the first line of section 8, strike out the figure "8”
and insert in lieu thereof the figure "7."
