1900.] OF THE SENATE. 929 Also, favorably, with proposed amendment, Senate bill No. 229, entitled "An Act to repeal section 2, of Article 54, of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title ‘Land office,' and sections 11 and 15, of same Article, as amended and re-enacted by Acts of the Assembly of 1894, chapter 191." AMENDMENT PROPOSED. In line 2 of section 2 of original bill strike out the words "fourteen hundred," and the figures "$1400," and insert in lieu thereof, respectively, the words "twelve hundred” and the figures "$1200." Strike out all between the word "annum," in line 2 of section 2, and the word "annum” in line 4 of section 2, and insert in lieu thereof the words "one assistant clerk, who shall receive $1,000 per annum, and two assistant clerks who shall receive each a salary of $900 per." In line 4 of section 2 strike out the words "and four hundred." Whtch proposed amendment was adopted, and The bill was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. Also, favorably, Senate bill No. 265, entitled "An Act to incorporate the Compressed Air Company of Baltimore." AMENDMENTS PROPOSED. By Mr. Bryan, Amend by adding at the end of section 8 the follow- ing: "Provided, however, that said corporation shall in all respects be subject to the provisions of chapter 123, of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1896, and all ordi- nances passed by the Mayor and City Council of Balti- more in conformity therewith; and shall be subject to the •ontrol in every respect to the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, in so far as its operations may be carried on in the city of Baltimore, and nothing herein contained shall be construed to the contrary."
