General of Maryland, or some other person to be selected
by the Governor, the agent of the State of Maryland, to
collect and recover, in the name of the Governor of
Maryland, the balance due, or so much thereof as is col-
lectable, of the claim of the State against the United
States Government growing out of the furnishing and
equipping of Maryland troops for the Volunteer Army
of the United States in the late Spanish-American war,.
and providing compensation therefor."
Which was read the first time and referred to the Com
mittee on Finance.
By Mr. Rohrback,
A bill entitled "An Act requiring the Baltimore and
Ohio Railroad Company lo keep a flagman stationed at
the crossing of said railroad over the county road at
Monrovia, Frederick county."
Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Corporatiens.
By Mr. Williams, of Anne Arundel,
A bill entitled "An Act to regulate the fare for travel
on the Baltimore, South Baltimore, and Curtis Bay Rail-
road and its connections."
Which was read the first time and referred to the
Committee on Corporations.


REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
Mr. Crothers, from Committee on Finance, reported
favorably,
House bill entitled "An Act to appropriate the sum of
$200 to King Bros., to pay them for extra printing done
by them for the General Assembly at the session of 1898,
and not included in the contract as State Printer."
Which was read the second time.
Also favorably,
House biti entitled "An Act to authorize and direct the
Comptroller of Baltimore city and the Comptroller of the
State, respectively, to refundto August C. Schmidt money
erroneously paid in to the treasurers, respectively, of said
State and municipality for licenses."
Which was read the second time.
