738 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 1

On motion of Mr. Crofters,
Said bill was made the Special Order of the Day for
Tuesday, March 20th, at 12.20 P. M.

Mr. Betts submitted the following
REPORTS:
City Hospital.
We visited the City Hospital of Baltimote and find it
doing a grand work. The Pasteur treatment is found
very efficacious, and they are doing work in other bran-
ches of treatment. Too much cannot be said concerning
the management of this hospital by the Sisters of Mercy,
who devote their lives to the care of sick, in their charge,
and also their efficient management of the hospital; and
also the abilities of the physicians. And we take great
pleasure in commending this institution, and ask for the
desired appropriation, $5,000.

Maryland General Hospital.
The committee find this to be one of the finest institu-
tions of its kind in the State.
The general management are of the highest order, and
no one who has applied for admission has ever been
turned away. Notwithstanding they have only one free
bed for each county and Legislative district, and we
cheerfully recommend the appropriation which is asked
for its maintenance be allowed.

Baltimore University.
Your committee also visited the Baltimore University
and found that the general principle of the management
are of the highest order, and no one who has applied for
admission has ever been turned away notwithstanding the
cramped condition they are in, for more room, and which
is necessary to further their worthy purposes.
They ask for an appropriation of $2,000 which your
committee considered favorable.

Western Maryland Hospital.
We visited this institution which is situated at Cum-
berland.
