716 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 16 Sencte bill No. 161, entitled "An Act to amend sec- tion 4, of Article 3, of the Constitution of the State." AMENDMENTS PROPOSED. In line 17, of the engrossed bill, strike out the figure ‘‘3.'' Also, in line 18, of the engrossed bill, substitute for the figue "9” the figure "5." Also, In line 20, of time engrossed bill, strike out the figure Pending further consideration of which, On motion of Mr. Moses, Said bill, with proposed amendments, Was made the Special Order of the Day, for Tuesday March 20th, at 1.00 P. M. Also favorably, with proposed amendments, Senate bill No. 162, entitled "An Act to amend section 2, of Article 3, of the Constitution of this State." AMENDMENTS PROPOSED. Strike out all after "2” in line 6 of original bill down to and including line 10, and substitute therefor tire fol- lowing: "The city of Baltimore should be divided into five Legislative districts, as near as may be, of equal taxation and contiguous territory, and each of said Legislative districts of Baltimore city, as they may, from time to time, be laid out in accordance with the provisions here- of, and each county in the State shall be entitled to one Senator, who shall be elected by the qualified voters of the said Legislative districts of Baltimore city and of the counties of the State respectively, and shall serve for four years from the date of his election, subject to the qualification of Senators hereinafter provided for," Pending further consideration of which, On motion of Mr. Moses, Said bill, with proposed amendments, was made the Special Order of the Day for Tuesday, March 20th at • 1.15 P.
