On motion of Mr. Crothers, it was Ordered, That the President of this Senate be, and he is hereby authorized to adjust the positions of the sev- eral appointees, or employees of this Senate in conformi- ty to their special fitness and abilties for such positions as they severally can most fitly fill, a due regard being had to the different pay of the said employees and ap- pointees. On motion of Mr. Crothers, it was Ordered, That all employees and officials of the Senate of 1898,who have been performing services during this ses- sion, and who have been re-employed or re-appointed, be and they are hereby discharged from further attendance on this session,and that they be severally requested to fur- nish their time to the Secretary of the Senate, in order that proper orders for their compensation may be passed. Mr. Peter submitted the following messase: By THE SENATE, January 11th, 1900. Gentlemen of the House of Delegates: We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body, that when the two houses adjourn to-day, January 11th, 1900, that they stand adjourned until Monday, January 15th, at 8 o'clock, P. M. By order, ALFRED RITTER, Chief Clerk. Which was read, assented to and sent to the House. On motion of Mr. Bryan, The Senate went into the nomination of a State Treas- urer, for the State of Maryland. Mr. Bryan nominated Hon. Murray Vandiver. Mr. Williams nominated Hon. Thos. J. Shryock. On motion of Mr. Peter, Nominations were closed. |
