1900.] OF THE SENATE. 45

The main building is in fair condition, having been
lately painted. It, however, needs a new roof and proper
drainage, An abundant and pure supply of water has
lately been had in a flowing artesian well, costing over
$400.00. To carry this water to the building is now a
necessity, and will cost considerable. The building
should be properly lighted, for coal oil is neither safe or
sufficient. The present building, called "The Annex,"
now used for school rooms, was never intended for such,
(only a hail), and can never be properly fitted for such,
and the school is in great need of a proper school
building. The heretofore neglect of female edu-
cation and the small aid now and heretofore given it
compared with the aid now and heretofore given the
male school, should give this school special claims upon
the people of the State; for I believe it has- not its
superior in the State.

Respectfully submitted,
J. PARRAN CRANE,

Secretary of Board of Trustees.
