Article 12, of the Public Local Laws of Maryland, entitled
‘Garrett County,' sub-title ‘Manufacturers and Mines,"
for, the appointment of mine inspector for Allegany
and Garrett counties, and regulation of coal mines in said
counties, and to re-enact them with amendments, and to
add certain new sections to said respective Articles to
follow in the first mentioned Article, section 209, to be
designated as ‘Sections 209 A, 209 B, 209 C and 209 D,"
and to follow in the second mentioned Article, ‘Section
16 H,' to be designated as 'Sections 164 A, 164 B and
164 C."
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Amendment No. 1. Amend title on line 4, by inserting
after title words ‘Manufacturers and Mines,' the follow-
ing: "as amended by chapter 34, of the Acts of 1898."
Amendment No. 2. Amend section 1, on line 5, by in-
serting after the words "Manufactures and Mines,' the
following: "as amended by chapter 34, of the Acts of
1898."
Amendment No. 3. Amend section 196, Article 1, and
150, of Article 12, by striking out the words between
"Garrett Counties," to line 19, down to and including
the word "political party” on line 20, and in lieu thereof,
the following: "to nominate to him twelve persons, six
of each of the two leading parties."
Amendment No. 4. Strike out the word "six," on line
26, section 196, of Article 1 and 150, of Article 12, and
insert in lieu thereof the word "twelve."

Amendment No. 5. Amend by adding after the word
"pounds," on line, 165. of section 204, of Article 1 and
section 150, of Article 12, the following: "But said weigh-
master shall not, in estimating said weight, deduct from
any foreign minerals or matter more than the actual
weight of said foreign minerals or matter."
Amendment No. 6. Amend by striking out from the
figures "12," at the beginning of section 207, of Artiele 1
and section 161, of Article 12, to and including the word
"operation," at the end of line 193, and inserting in lieu
thereof the following: "That at any time, upon the. re-
quest in writing to that effect, of a majority of the
miners then employed in any coal mine in said counties
