imposition of State taxes by the Mayor and City Coun-
cil of Baltimore; and to provide for the imposition and
collection of said taxes by said Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the
Committee on Finance, hereafter to be appointed.

Mr. Bryan, moved to suspend the rules, and put said
bill upon its second reading,

The rules were suspended (two-thirds of all the Sena-
tors-elect voting in the affirmative,) by yeas and nays, as
follows:

JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

Mr. Rohrback offered the following:
Joint Resolution and Memorial of. the General Assem-
bly of the State of Maryland to the Congress of the
United States for the passage of a bill to reimburse and
indemnity the Mayor and Aldermen of Frederick.
Which was read the first time, and referred to the
Committee on Federal Relations, hereafter to be ap-
pointed.
