Mr. Crothers, from the Committee on Finance, report- ed unfavorably, Bill No. 44, entitled "An Act for the education of women to teach in the public schools by providing free scholarships in the Woman's College of Frederick, Mary- land." Which report was adopted. The Secretary of State appeared, and delivered a mes- sage from the Executive. ORDER OF THE DAY. The hour of 1 P. M. having arrived, The Senate considered the Order of the Day, being Senate bill No. 50, entitled "An Act to repeal section 796, of Article 4, Public Local Laws, entitled ‘City of Baltimore,' sub-title ‘Street Railway Fares,' as amended and re-enacted by chapter 123, of the Acts of 1898, ahd re-enact the same with amendments." Mr. Brewington moved that said bill be referred to the Committee on Corporations. Mr. Bryan moved as a substitute for said motion, that the Senate Chamber be tendered to the public and the representatives of the United Railway Company im- mediately after the session of the Senate upon Monday, February 17th, and that pending further consideration of said bill, it be made the Special Order of the Day for Tuesday, February 20th, at 12.15 P. M. Which motion prevailed. At 2.30 P. M., On motion of Mr. Moses, The Senate went into Executive session., At 2.40 P. M., |
