NIGHT SESSION.

TUESDAY, Jan'y 9, 1900.

The Senate met at 8 P. M.

Prayer by the Rev. Father Kautz.

Present at roll call the following Senators:

Messrs. President, Applegarth, Beasman, Betts, Bouic,
Brewington, Bryan, Crothers, Dennis, Dick, Dodson,
Gray, Kirwan. Messick, Moore, Moses, Peter, Putzel,
Ravenscroft, Rohrback. Wilkinson, Williams, of Harford,
Williams, of Anne Arundel—23.

The Journal of Wednesday was read and approved.



PETITIONS, MEMORIALS AND OTHER PAPERS.

Mr. Moses presented a memorial from the Johns Hop-
kins University.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Finance, hereafter to be appointed.

Mr Rohrback presented a petition from Lloyd T.
Macgill, Jr., and others, a Committee of the United Fire
Engine Company, No. 3, of Frederick, Md., for the pas-
sage of an Act to abolish the office of State Fire Mar-
shal.

Also,

Memorial of William F. Chilton, Edward A. Gettinger,
Mayor; Jonathan Biser, Register and Collector, S. Elmer
Brown, J. E. Schell, E. J. Winebrenner, Jr., aldermen of
• Frederick city, and 648 others, asking for the passage of
resolution requesting the Congress of the United States
to pass a bill appropriating the sum of two hundred
thousand dollars, to be paid to the mayor and aldermen
of Frederick, by way of indemnity for the loss herein
mentioned.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on
Federal Relations, hereafter to be appointed.
