1900.] OF THE SENATE. 147 FURTHER AMENDMENT PROPOSED. By Mr. Dick. Strike out all of line 10 in printed bill to the end of the sentence in line 11, and insert as follows; "Two of said commissioners shall be selected, one each from the two leading political parties of the State, and before making said appointments the Governor shall re- quest the Democratic State Central Committeee, and the Republican State Central Committee to nominate to him three persons, and from which three names of the oppo- site political parties, he shall appoint one each of said two commissioners so to he appointed. If the Governor shall consider the parties so nominated unfit or incompe- tent, and shall refuse to appoint from said lists, he shall file a written statement with the Secretary of State, set- ting forth his reasons for such refusal to appoint, and he shall forthwith request of said committees to furnish a similar list of three names each, from which, with the original list, he shall make said appointments."
