On motion of Mr. Waller,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Roads and
Highways to introduce a bill entitled "An Act to repeal
the title and sections 1 and 2, of chapter 454, of the Acts
. of Assembly passed at the session of 1898, and provid-
ing for au investigation of the question of said instruc-
tion in this State, arid for the preparation of reports
thereon, and making an appropriation therefor, and to
re-enact the same with amendments, to provide for the
creation of a Public Road Commissioner, which shall
have the powers and duties prescribed under the suc-
ceeding section of said chapter. "

Also,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Chesapeake
Bay and its Tributaries to introduce a bill entitled "An
Act to amend Article 23, of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title 'Wicomico County, ' sub-title
'Fish, ' by adding three new sections thereto, to follow
section 50, of said Article, and be designated 'Section
SO A and section 50 B and section 50 C. ' "

On motion of Mr. Brown, of Baltimore city,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations
to introduce a bill entitled "An Act to change the name
of Washington Street Station Methodist Protestant
Church to Alnutt Memorial Methodist Protestant
Church. "

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.

Mr. Lehmayer, from the Committee on Judiciary, re-
ported unfavorably,

House bill entitled "An Act to repeal Article 27, of the
Code of Public General Laws, title 'Crimes and Punish-
ments, ' and all Acts and parts of Acts amendatory there-
of, as well as to repeal certain specified Acts and Code
provisions relating to crimes and punishments deemed
inconsistent with or covered by the provisions of this
Act, and to re-enact said Article with amendments. '"

Mr. Scrimger moved that further consideration of the
bill be indefinitely postponed.
