House bill entitled "An Act to repeal sections 1, 2, 3,
10, 16, 20, 31, 32 and 37, of Article 59, of the Code of
Public General Laws, title 'Lunatics and Insane, ' and to
re-enact the same with amendments, and to add three
new sections to said Article, to follow section 38, and to
be designated as 'Sections 39, 40 and 41. '"

Which unfavorable report was adopted.

Mr. Collins, from the Committee on Claims, reported
favorably,

House bill entitled "An Act to appropriate a sum of
money to pay balance due Richard T. Knox for services
rendered as Chief Engineer of the State steamer Gov. P.
F. Thomas. "

Also, favorably,

House bill entitled "An Act to refund to Alfred Ijams,
of Anne Arundel. county, the sum of ten dollars, amount
of tax paid by him on his commission as Judge of the
Orphans' Court for said county, under appointment by
the Governor in the year 1896. "

House bill entitled "An Act to refund to Enoch B.
Abell, Clerk to the Circuit Court for St. Mary, s county,
$23. 75 erroneously paid into the State treasury. "

House bill entitled "An Act to authorize and direct the
Comptroller of Baltimore city, and the Comptroller of
the State, respectively, to refund to August C. Schmidt
money erroneously paid into the treasuries, respectively,
of said State and municipalities for licenses,

Mr. Norris, from the Committee on Hygiene, reported
unfavorably,

House bill entitled "An Act to provide proper sanitary
safeguards to purchasers and consumers of meats im-
ported into the State of Maryland. "
