supply for the use of the House eight copies of Poe's
supplement to the Code of Public General Laws.

Mr. Phelps submitted the following order; viz:
Ordered, That the Committee on Claims pay Luther
Welch forty-five dollars for services performed for the
House as officer in the Hall of State House.

The Speaker ruled that this order was contrary to the
Rules, and was therefore out of order.

Mr. Phelps moved that the Rules be suspended, which
motion was lost.

On motion of Mr. Robinson, it was

Ordered, That the Chief Engrossing Clerk, be and
he is hereby authorized to procure a desk suitable for
his use in the engrossing room.

LEAVES TO INTRODUCE BILLS.
On motion of Mr. Dunn,

Leave was granted to introduce a bill entitled "An Act
to give and grant the sanction and consent of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland to a deed from Philip Ban-
del and wife to ministers of Light 'St. Methodist Episco-
pal Church, of Baltimore city. "

Referred to the Judiciary Committee, hereafter to be
appointed.

On motion of Mr. Waters,

Leave was granted to introduce a bill entitled an Act
to repeal chapter 295, of the Acts of Assembly of 1896,
and chapter 282, of the Acts of 1898, of the Code of
Public General Laws of the State of Maryland, under the
title of "Immigration. " establishing a Bureau of Immi-
gration in and for the State of Maryland.

Referred to the Judiciary Committee, hereafter to be
appointed.

Also,

Leave was granted to introduce a bill entitled an Act
to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, section 19, of
Article 77, of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Public Education. "

Referred to the Committee on Education, hereafter to
be appointed.
