Which was read, and referred to the Committee on
Judiciary, hereafter to be appointed.

Mr. Long presented the petition of Henry Kyd Doug-
las and others, asking for the passage of a law giving au-
thority to parties appealing from the Courts of Washing-
ton county to the Court of Appeals, to provide for the
printing of the transcripts of records.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on
Judiciary, hereafter to be appointed.

ORDERS.

On motion of Mr. Sandman, it was

Ordered, That E. S. W. Choate be excused from at-
tendance at to-day's session on account of important
business.

On motion of Mr. Norris, it was

Ordered, That Mr. Anderson, of Carroll, be excused
from to-day's session on account of business.

On motion of Mr. Merrick, it was

Ordered, That Mr. Contee be excused from to-day's
session on account of important business.
On motion of Mr Finzel, it was

Ordered, That a screen be erected to protect the How-
ard and Garrett county delegations from the draft com-
ing in at the door.

Mr. Walbach submitted the following order; viz:

Ordered, That Z. Householder and A. E. Ohr, clerks,
be paid the sum of eighty dollars each, for services rend-
ered the clerks of this session.

Which was referred to the Committee on Claims, here-
after appointed.

Also the following:

Ordered, That J. A. Fairbanks and A. Howard, door
keepers; Joseph Kelley, policeman; be paid the sum of
forty dollars each, for acting in the above capacity until
their successors were appointed.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Claims, hereafter to be appointed.
On motion of Mr. Waters, it was

Ordered, That the Librarian is hereby directed to
