Maryland, That section 61, of Article 77, of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, title 'Public Educa-
tion, ' as re-enacted by chapter 135 of the Acts of Assem-
bly of Maryland, at the session of 1896, be and the same
is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as fol-
lows:

In line 1, strike out the first word "section. "
At the beginning of line 9, before the word "and" in-
sert the words "section 2. "

After the word "re-enact" in fourth line of the title,
strike out all of title and insert the following: "the same
with amendments. "

Said bill, as amended, was read a second time.

Mr. Dryden, from a Select Committee, reported favor-
ably,

Senate bill entitled "An Act to authorize the Commis-
sioners of Crisfield, in Somerset county, to issue addi-
tional bends on the credit of said municipal corporation. "

Which was read a second time.

Mr. Staley from the Committee on Education, reported
favorably, with proposed amendments,

Senate bill entitled "An Act to repeal and to re-enact
with amendments, section 6, of Article 77, of the Code of
Public General Laws, title 'Public Education, ' sub-title
'Formation of Boards. ' "

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

1. After the word "Frederick" in line 6 of section 1,
insert the word "Dorchester. "

2. In line 7 of section 1, after the words "six persons, "
insert the words "and in 'each of the other counties of
three persons. "

3. In line 18 of section 1, after the word "Frederick, "
insert the word "Dorchester. "

4. After the word "Boards" in line 22, insert as follows:
"Provided, however, that the present members of the
several Boards of School Commissioners shall hold the
offices until their successors are duly appointed and
qualified. "
