And whereas, it is asserted by many citizens, and this
General Assembly believes with good reason, that said
bridge is unsafe, unsound and a menace to life and limb
in its present condition, therefore
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
that a committee, to consist of three members of the
House of Delegates and two members of the Senate, be
appointed, whose duty it shall be to have the said bridge
and its approaches thoroughly examined with regard to
its safety and sufficiency for the traffic crossing thereon,
and to that end are hereby authorized and empowered to
employ competent engineering skill for that purpose, and
the sum of $300, or so much thereof as may be necessary,
is hereby appropriated to defray the expenses of said in-
spection and examination.

Ways and Means.

Mr. Staley, from a Select Committee, reported favor-
ably,
House bill entitled "An Act to authorize the Burgess
and Commissioners of Williamsport, in Washington
county, to redeem each and all of the bonds issued by
them under provisions of chapter 27, of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at its January
Session, A. D. 1898, and to issue new bonds in lieu
thereof. "

Mr. Hopkins, from a Select Committee, reported fa-
vorably,
House bill entitled "An Act to repeal sections 261, 262 C,
262 K, 262 N and 262 Q, of the Code of Public Local
Laws, title 'Harford County, ' sub-title 'Taxes, ' as enacted
by the Act of 1898, chapter 204, and to re-enact the same
with amendments. "
