1900. J OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES. 191
to force cold air into this "Hall"—and find that its repair
would necessitate such a large expenditure of money that
would be beyond the apparent jurisdiction of the Com-
mittee on Claims, as indicated by its former reports,
that it would require or call for reference to the Ways
and Means Committee; this committee being so much
overburdened and taxed with work that the session would
probably end before they would be able to report
the matter for the consideration of this House; there-
fore we suggest, that certain ventilators, now stored
away among the dusty and ancient archives, which are
in the basement of the State House, be placed in the
proper windows of this "Hall, " and that at least three (3)
thermometers be placed at various places against the
walls of this "Hall, " so that the Janitor can ascertain, at
all times, the uniformity of temperature.
In as much as the Committee on "Hygiene" is over-
burdened with arduous labor, we are obliged to ask the
House to accept this brief report.
By order of
COMMITTEE.
Mr. Collins then moved a reconsideration of the vote
by which the Committee's report was adopted.
A division being called for and the call being sus-
tained,
The motion to reconsider was carried.
The question recurring upon the motion to re-commit
the matter to the Committee on Hygiene,
The motion was adopted.
Mr. Duncan submitted the following;
JOINT RESOLUTION.
Appointing a Joint Special Committee of the General
Assembly of Maryland to examine into and report by
bill or otherwise, upon the condition of the bridge of the
Annapolis Short Line Railroad crossing the Severn river.
Whereas, The condition of the railroad bridge crossing
the Severn river and used and "maintained by the An-
Anapolic Short Line Railroad, is a matter of deep and
serious concern to the passengers conveyed by said rail-
road to and from the Capital of this State.
