ident of the Board of Supervisors of Election, and no
ballot without such fac-simile of said signature shall be
received or deposited in the ballot box or shall be counted
if deposited in the ballot box.

"162. Each ticket which the Board of Supervisors of
Elections may have cause to be printed for any primary
election, precinct, ward or district, shall be entitled to be
represented at each polling place by a challenger, and
such challenger shall be entitled to take such position of
will enable him to see clearly, not only the person pre-
senting themselves to vote, but the ballot box as well,
and so soon as the polls of the said primary election shall
close, the Maid challenger shall be entitled to go into the
polling room if not already therein, and to take up such
position in such polling room as will enable him to see
the names on each ballot as it is called off, and to watch,
if he sees fit, the tally clerks. Such challenger shall have
a commission signed by the candidates on the ticket for
which he is challenger, or by a majority of them,
and in case of no person having such commission,
the judges shall permit to act as challenger for
such ticket such person as shall be designated by
the supporters of such ticket then present at the
polling place. Challengers may be removed at any
time and others appointed in their place by a majority
of the candidates on the ticket for which they are chal-
lengers. The failure or refusal of any judge of a pri-
mary election to permit any watcher or challenger to
take up the position authorized by this section, or any
interference with such watcher or challenger in the dis-
charge of his duties by such judge or by any other per-
son shall be a misdemeanor, punishable by a fin-: not ex-
ceeding two hundred and fifty dollars ($250). or by
imprisonment not exceeding six months, or by both fine
and imprisonment, in the discretion of the coun.

'163. The Supervisors of Elections shall furnish ballot
boxes of the kind used at the general elections for use at
primary elections. These bailor boxes. together with the
registry or poll list for each precinct shall be sent to the
polling places of the primary election in the manner in
which the ballot boxes and registries are sent to the
polls of a general election. Challenge at primary elec-
tions shall be made in the manner prescribed by law for
