The bill, entitled, An act to revive the levy court
of Baltimore county, was read the second time by especial
order and will pass.
The bill, entitled, An act to revive and aid the
proceedings of the orphans court of Saint-Mary's county,
was read the second time by especial order and will pass.
The bill, entitled, An act to revive and aid the
proceedings of the orphans court of Talbot county, was read
the second time by especial order and will pass.
The clerk of the house of delegates delivers a bill,
entitled, An act to settle and ascertain the salary of the
members of the council for the ensuing year, endorsed; " By the house of
delegates, November 5, 1800: Read
" the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

and will pass.

Which was read the first and second time by especial
order, passed, and, with the bill to revive the levy court
of Baltimore county, the bill to revive and aid the proceedings of the
orphans court of Saint-Mary's county,
and the bill to aid and revive the proceedings of the orphans court of
Talbot county, was sent to the house of
delegates by the clerk.
The senate adjourns till Monday morning 10 o'clock.
M O N D
A Y, November 10, 1800.
THE senate met. Present the same members as
on Saturday. The proceedings of Saturday were read.
Nicholas Hammond and Littleton Dennis, Esquires, appeared,
and qualified in the presence of the senate,
before Allen Quynn, Esquire, one of the justices of the peace for Anne-Arundel
county, agreeably to the constitution
and form of government.
The president communicates tot he senate a letter form
John Callahan, register of the western shore land-office,
enclosing an account of taxes received in his office, and paid to the treasurer,
for one year, ending the second
day of last month, with the treasurer's receipts therefor; which was read
and referred to the consideration of
the house of delegates.
The clerk of the house of delegates delivers a bill,
entitled, An act for the relief of Devalt Glockner, of
Washington county, and a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of John
Sites, of Washington county, severally
endorsed; By the house of delegates, November 8, 1800: Read
the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

and will pass.

Which were severally read the first time and ordered
to lie on the table.
And also the following message:
By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, November 10, 1800.
GENTLEMEN OF THE SENATE,
WITH the concurrence of your house we propose to
proceed immediately to the election of a governor.
The honourable Benjamin Ogle is put in nomination by us, and we have appointed
Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, and
Mr. Charles Frazier, to join such gentlemen as may be appointed to you
to examine the ballots and to report
thereon.

Which was read.
The following message was prepared, read, agreed to,
and, with the letter from John Callahan, was sent to the
house of delegates by the clerk.
By the SENATE, November 10, 1800.
GENTLEMEN,
WE have received your message, and are ready to
proceed in the election of a governor as proposed by you.
We have appointed Charles Goldsborough, junior, and William Hemsley, junior,
Esquires, to join the gentlemen
named by you in the examination of the ballots. No person is nominated
by this house in addition to the gentleman
named by you.
By order,

The senate having qualified agreeably to the constitution
and form of government, proceeded to the election
of a governor; the ballot box being prepared, the ballots were deposited
therein, sealed up, and delivered to the
committee of the senate appointed to meet the committee of the house of
delegates, who retired to the conference
room, and after the examination of the ballots returned and reported, that
his excellency Benjamin Ogle,
Esquire, is unanimously elected.
Whereupon it is declared in the senate, that his excellency
Benjamin Ogle, Esquire, is unanimously elected
governor of the state of Maryland.
