any right, title or claim, to the said property, or any part thereof,
acquired or prosecuted by any person or persons
whatever before the passage of this act; and provided also, that unless
the said Thomas McCutchen shall,
on or before the first day of June next, proceed according to
law to make himself a citizen of the United States,
this act shall have no effect to confirm his title to the property
above mentioned, nor shall he, or any person
claiming under him, derive any benefit under this act; but if the said
Thomas McCutchen shall die before the
time when, by the laws of the United States, he may become a citizen thereof,
nothing in this proviso contained
shall prevent him from transmitting or transferring his said property
be descent or devise to any issue he
may leave residing within the United States, who is hereby declared capable
in law to hold the same, or to any
other person, being a citizen of the United States, and capable in
law to hold the same."
The bill for the relief of Henry King and Philip Stover,
was read the second time and will pass with the proposed
amendment.
Amendment proposed. Strike out from the word
"acquired" in the third line of the second page to the end
of the bill, and insert, " provided always, that nothing in this act
contained shall in any manner defeat or affect
any right, title or claim, to the said property, or any part thereof, acquired
or prosecuted by any person or persons
whatever before the passage of this act; and provided also, that unless
the said Henry King and Philip Stover
shall respectively, on or before the first day of June next, proceed
according to law to make themselves citizens
of the United States, this act shall have no effect to confirm their titles
to the property above mentioned,
nor shall they, or any person claiming under them, or either of them, derive
any benefit under this act; but if
the said Henry King and Philip Stover shall die before the time when, by
the laws of the United States, he may
become a citizen thereof, nothing in this proviso contained shall prevent
him from transmitting or transferring
his said property be descent or devise to any issue he may leave residing
within the United States, who is hereby
declared capable in law to hold the same, or to any other person, being
a citizen of the United States, and capable
in law to hold the same."
The bill for the relief of George Rice, of Washington
county, was read the second time and will pass with the
proposed amendment.
Amendment proposed. Strike out from the word
"acquired" in the twelfth line to the end of the bill, and
insert, " provided always, that nothing in this act contained shall
in any manner defeat or affect any right, title
or claim, to the said property, or any part thereof, acquired or prosecuted
by any person or persons whatever
before the passage of this act; and provided also, that unless the
said George Rice shall, on or before the first
day of June next, proceed according to law to make himself a
citizen of the United States, ( unless he already naturalized,)
this act shall have no effect to confirm his title to the property above
mentioned, nor shall he, or
any person claiming under him, derive any benefit under this act; but if
the said George Rice shall die before
the time when, by the laws of the United States, he may become a citizen
thereof, nothing in this proviso contained
shall prevent him from transmitting or transferring his said property by
descent or devise to any issue he
may leave residing within the United States, who is hereby declared capable
in law to hold the same, or to any
other person, being a citizen of the United States, and capable in law
to hold the same."
The bill for the relief of William Ballenger, Basil
Dorsey and Anthony Poultney, of Frederick county, was
read the second time and will pass with the proposed amendment.
Amendment proposed. Strike out from the word
"acquired" in the eighth line of the third page to the end
of the bill, and insert, " provided always, that nothing in this act contained
shall be construed in any manner to
affect any right, title or claim, to the aforesaid lands, or any part
thereof, acquired or prosecuted by any person
or persons before the passage of this act."
