report thereon.
    A petition from Archibald Arnold and George Sap, of Allegany county, praying an act may pass directing
patent to issue to them for lots No. 3375 and 3383, upon their paying at the rate of one shilling and eight-pence
per acre, was preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on the petition of Andrew Bruce, to
consider and report thereon.
    A petition from Upton Bruce, of Frederick county, praying a confirmation of his title to certain lands in
Allegany county, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Nelson, Mr. J. Cresap, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Hyland
and Mr. Shriver, to consider and report thereon.
    A petition from sundry inhabitants of Allegany county, praying an act may pass for opening a road from Jesse
Tomlinson's, on Bradock's road, across Savage river, near the falls, to pass by or near a place commonly called
Fenimore's, and from thence to come into the road leading from John Compton's to the village of Western Fort,
at or near Matthew Ball's, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Addison, Mr. Simkins and Mr. J. Cresap,
to consider and report thereon.
    Petitions from Levy Hilleary, of Allegany county, John L. Briscoe, of Saint-Mary's county, Thomas Taylor,
of Harford county, William Bozman, of Somerset county, John Wilmot, of the city of Annapolis, Henry
C. Neale, of Saint-Mary's county, praying acts of insolvency, were preferred, read, and referred to the committee
appointed on petitions of a similar nature.
    On motion, ORDERED, That Mr. Mercer, Mr. Chapman, Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, Mr. Wilson, Mr. Nelson,
Mr. McCulloch and Mr. Leigh, be a committee of finance, to inquire into the state of the revenue, and to report
thereon.
    ORDERED, That the report of the trustee of the state be referred to to committee of finance, to consider and
report thereon.
    On motion, Leave given to bring in a supplement to an act, entitled, An act for the promotion of literature in
this state.  ORDERED, That Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Love, Mr. Worthington, Mr. E. Davis and Mr. Lemmon,
be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
    Mr. T. Davis, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:
    THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Levin Luckett, praying for the alteration of certain
roads in Montgomery county, report, that they have taken the same into consideration, and as there appears to
the committee no evidence of the said Luckett's having given information of his intention of making such application,
your committee are of opinion that the prayer thereof ought not to be granted.

Which was read the first and second time and concurred with,
    A petition from Samuel Dickinson, of Talbot county, praying commissioners may be appointed to lay out a
road in some convenient place for the use of James Goldsborough, so as not to injure him, was preferred, read,
and referred to Mr. Lloyd, Mr. Denny and Mr. Edmondson, to consider and report thereon.
    The reports on the petitions of John Sites and Devalt Glockner, were read the second time, concurred with,
and leave given to being in bills pursuant thereto.  ORDERED, That the committee appointed on said petitions
prepare and bring in the same.
    On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill to alter and change the time for holding the county courts in
Washington and Baltimore counties.  ORDERED, That Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, Mr. Worthington and Mr.
Geoghegan, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
    A petition from Howes Goldsborough, of the city of Baltimore, praying an act of insolvency, was preferred,
read, and referred to the committee appointed on the petition of Thomas J. Beatty, to consider and report
thereon.
    Mr. Nelson, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:
    THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Upton Bruce, of Frederick county, report, that they
have taken the same into consideration, and find the facts set forth are true; the committee are of opinion the
prayer thereof is reasonable, and ought to be granted.

Which was read.
    The bill to aid and revive the proceedings of the orphans court of Talbot county, was read the second time
by especial order, and passed.
    Mr. Simkins, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:
    THE committee to whom was referred the petition of George Hoffman, and others, of Allegany county,
report, taht they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion the prayer thereof is reasonable,
and ought to be granted.
