    The report on the petition of James Lytle was read the second time, and the resolution therein contained assented
to, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
    The bill to open a road from the Pennsylvania line, through Emmitsburgh and Creager's-town, to intersect the
main road from Lancaster to the city of Washington at or near Frederick-town, in Frederick county, was read
the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
    On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill to authorise Benjamin Ray, junior, to collect the balances due him
as sheriff and collector of Montgomery county.  ORDERED, That Mr. T. Davis, Mr. Magruder and Mr. Quynn,
be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
    A petition from Lewis Duvall, of Montgomery county, praying an act of insolvency, was preferred, read,
and referred to the committee appointed on the petition of Chamberlaine and Magruder.
    Mr. Quynn, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplementary act to an act to lay
out and establish a road from the city of Annapolis to the city of Washington, and to repeal the act therein
mentioned; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
    The report on the petition of the securities of Dennis Griffith was read the second time, and the question put,
That the house assent to the resolution therein contained?  The yeas and nays being required, appeared as
follow:

    Mr. T. Davis, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to extend the powers of
the trustees of the poor of Montgomery county; which was read the first and second time by especial order,
passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
    The following resolution being propounded to the house, was read the first and second time, assented to, and
sent to the senate by the clerk.
    RESOLVED, That the proceedings on the judgments obtained against John Sprigg Belt, William Hammond,
Horatio Johnson, and others, as the securities of Dennis Griffith, by the state of Maryland, be suspended until
the first day of January, eighteen hundred and three.
    The bill, entitled, A further supplement to an act, entitled, An act to establish pilots, and to regulate their
fees, was read the second time, and the question put, That the said bill do pass?  Determined in the negative.
    Mr. Forman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act relating to the appointment
of justices of the levy court, and of the orphans court, and to restrict the same in the several counties of this
state; which was read the first time, and the question put, That the said bill be referred to the consideration of
the next general assembly?  The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:
