VOTES and PROCEEDINGS, November Session, 1800.            47

    A petition from sundry inhabitants of Washington county, praying an act may pass for laying out a public road
from Elizabeth-town, on the nearest and best ground towards Mercersburgh, in Pennsylvania, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Geoghegan, Mr. Cromwell and Mr. Smith, of Washington, to consider and report
thereon.
    A petition from John Jarvis, of the city of Annapolis, praying a confirmation of his title to a lot of land in
said city purchased of Benjamin Howard, former sheriff of Anne-Arundel county, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. Johnson, Mr. Harwood and Mr. Quynn, to consider and report thereon.
    A petition from James Bowdle, of Talbot county, collector of the taxes of said county, praying a further time
to complete his collection, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Denny, Mr. Lloyd and Mr. Hyland, to consider
and report thereon.
    On motion, ORDERED, That Mr. Hyland be added to the committee on the petition of James Booker, and others.
    Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:
    THE committee to whom was referred the petition of the congregations of the methodist episcopal churches
in the city of Baltimore, report, that they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion that the
law prayed for in said petition ought to be granted.
                                                            By order,                                                L. GASSAWAY, clk.
    Which was read the first and second time, concurred with, and leave given to bring in a bill pursuant thereto.
ORDERED, That the committee appointed on said petition prepare and bring in the same.
    Mr. Johnson, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the direction of surveyors
in executing warrants of escheat in certain cases; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
    The report on the petition of the constables of the city of Baltimore was read the second time, concurred
with, and leave given to bring in a bill pursuant thereto.  ORDERED, That the committee appointed on said
petition prepare and bring in the same.
    On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill to alter the times of the session of Baltimore county court, of the
court of oyer and terminer and gaol delivery for Baltimore county, and of the court of appeals.  ORDERED, That
Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, Mr. Worthington and Mr. Marbury, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
    Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to alter the
times of the session of Baltimore county court, of the court of oyer and terminer and gaol delivery for Baltimore
county, and the court of appeals; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
    The clerk of the senate delivers the bill for the destruction of squirrels in Caroline county, the bill for the
relief of Thomas Beall, of Samuel, of Allegany county, the further supplementary act to the act, entitled, An 
act for the better administration of justice in the several counties of this state, severally endorsed; " By the
" senate, November 26, 1800:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

" By the senate, December 1, 1800:  Read the second time and will pass.
                                                        " By order,                                                  W. S.  GREEN, clk."
The supplement to an act, entitled, An act respecting the public roads in Washington county, endorsed; " By
" the senate, November 22, 1800:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                        " By order,                                                  W. S.  GREEN, clk.
" By the senate, December 1, 1800:  Read the second time and will pass.
                                                        " By order,                                                  W. S.  GREEN, clk."
    Ordered to be engrossed.
An account of money received for seals and taxes in the chancery court, endorsed; " By the senate, December
" 1, 800:  Read and referred to the consideration of the house of delegates.
                                                        " By order,                                                  W. S.  GREEN, clk."
    Which was read.
And the following resolution:

BY the SENATE, December 1, 1800.
    RESOLVED, That the governor and council be and they are hereby authorised and requested to direct the surveyor
of Cæcil county to survey, at the expence of George Gale, of said county, all that tract or parcel of land,
being part of new Connaught manor, lying in Cæcil county aforesaid, which was purchased by a certain John
Ryan, of said county, of Daniel of Saint Thomas Jenifer, then intendant of the revenue of the state of Maryland,
and by the said John Ryan conveyed to the said George Gale, by a deed executed on the first day of 
December, in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and ninety-five; and that the chancellor of the state be
and he is hereby authorised and requested, on certificate of survey being returned to the land-office of the western
shore by the said George Gale, and the sum of eight shillings and nine-pence per acre, with interest thereon from
the time it was sold by the said intendant, being paid into the treasury for the tract aforesaid, to issue patent to
the said George Gale for the same.

Which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
The house adjourns till to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.
