The report on the petition of sundry inhabitants
of Washington county was read the second time and concurred
with.
On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill for the destruction
of squirrels in Caroline county. ORDERED, That
Mr. Mason, Mr. Douglass and Mr. Orrell, be a committee to prepare and bring
in the same.
Mr. Chapman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
a bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower
the levy court of Charles county to assess and levy a sum of money for
the purpose of repairing and improving
the public road leading from Port-Tobacco through the Zachia Swamp at the
Old Bridges; which was read the
first time and ordered to lie on the table.
Mr. Mason, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
a bill, entitled, An act for the destruction of squirrels
in Caroline county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on
the table.
On motion, ORDERED, That the report of the committee
of finance be committed for amendment.
Mr. Cresap, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of William
McMahan, and others, securities of Robert
Sinclair, late sheriff and collector of Allegany county, report, that they
have taken the same into consideration,
and are of opinion they ought to be relieved, by a releasement from the
nine per cent. imposed on them for the
default of said Sinclair, and that a law ought to pass, authorising and
empowering them, in a summary way, to
collect from the inhabitants of Allegany county the out standing balances
due said Sinclair, as sheriff and collector
as aforesaid, on proper terms and restrictions to be contained in the law.

The bill for the destruction of squirrels in Caroline
county, was read the second time by especial order, passed,
and sent to the senate by the clerk.
On motion, Leave given to bring in a further supplementary
act to the act, entitled, An act for the regulation
of officers fees. ORDERED, That Mr. Chapman, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Wilson,
Mr. Harwood and Mr. Smith, of
Baltimore, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
A petition from James Booker, and others, of Talbot
county, praying their bond, as securities of William S.
Bond to the state, for caution money on certain lands in Allegany county,
may be cancelled, was preferred, read,
and referred to Mr. Edmondson, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Dashiell, to consider
and report thereon.
Mr. Mercer, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the report of the committee of finance as amended;
which was read.
On the second reading the said report, the question
was put, That the house concur with the second proposition
in said report? Resolved in the affirmative.
On progression in reading the said report, the question
was put, That the house concur with the second proposition
in said report? Resolved in the affirmative, and leave given to bring
in a bill pursuant thereto. ORDERED,
That the committee of finance prepare and bring in the same.

of wild deer in Somerset and Dorchester
