fees received by Vachel Stevens, examiner of the western
shore; which was read, and referred to Mr. Johnson, Mr. Montgomery
and Mr. McPherson, to consider and report
thereon.

A petition from James Millegan, of Cæcil county,
praying a confirmation of his title to certain lands purchased
of George Hamilton, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Nelson, Mr.
Miller and Mr. Gilpin, to
consider and report thereon.
Mr. McPherson, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of sundry
inhabitants of Charles county, praying a sum of
money may be levied on said county for the purpose of improving the public
road leading through Zachia Swamp
at the Old Bridges, report, that they have considered the same, and are
satisfied that the difficulties and inconveniencies
complained of by the petitioners really exist, from which your committee
are of opinion they ought
to be relieved, agreeably to the prayer of their petition; they therefore
recommend that a law may pass, authorising
and directing the levy court of Charles county to assess a sum of money
on the property of said county
for the purpose of improving the said road.
