VOTES and PROCEEDINGS, November Session, 1800.
Mr. Love, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Adam
Showers, and others, of Baltimore county, report,
that they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion that
the prayer thereof if reasonable, and
ought to be granted.

Which was read the first and second time, concurred
with, and leave given to bring in a bill pursuant thereto.
ORDERED, That the committee appointed on said petition prepare and bring
in the same.
A petition from James Goldsborough, of Talbot county,
counter to the petition of Samuel Dickinson, was preferred,
read, and referred to the committee appointed on the petition to which
it is counter.
On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill relating to
the public wharf in Chester-town, in Kent county.
ORDERED, That Mr. Chambers, Mr. Parker and Mr. Angier, be a committee to
prepare and bring in the same.
The further supplement to the act passed at November
session, seventeen hundred and eighty seven, entitled,
An act to lay out several turnpike roads in Baltimore county, was read
the second time, passed, and sent to the
senate by the clerk.
The bill to continue an act, entitled, An act for the
better administration of justice in the several counties of this
state, and the several supplements thereto, was read the second time, passed,
and sent to the senate by the clerk.
Mr. Dashiell, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Zadock
Long, and other inhabitants of the town of
Princess-Anne, in Somerset county, beg leave to report, that they have
examined into the facts therein stated,
and believe them true, and are of opinion a law should pass, appointing
commissioners to lay out the said town
anew, and to authorise the inhabitants to appoint a patroller for the said
town and precincts.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, from the committee, delivers
to the speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Richard
Britton, of Baltimore county, report, that
whereas it is represented to this general assembly, that negro Jem, the
slave of Richard Britton, of Baltimore
county, was sentenced to suffer death by the judgment of the court of oyer
and terminer and gaol delivery of
said county, and the said sentence has been commuted into banishment out
of the United States, and the said
negro slave Jem was valued by the said court to the sum of seventy-five
pounds current money, and therefore
recommend the following resolution:
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay
to the said Richard Britton, or order, the sum of
seventy-five pounds current money, the valuation of the said negro slave
Jem.

Which was read the first and second time, and the resolution
therein contained assented to, and sent to the
senate by the clerk.
The report on the petition of the presbyterian congregation
in Worcester county was read the second time,
concurred with, and leave given to bring in a bill pursuant thereto.
ORDERED, That the committee appointed
on said petition prepare and bring in the same.
Mr. Mason, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
a bill, entitled, An act to suspend part of an act for
draining of a marsh and branch, known by the name of The Long Marsh, lying
in Queen-Anne's and Caroline
counties, passed at November session, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine;
which was read the first time
and ordered to lie on the table.
Mr. Wilson, from the committee, delivers to the
speaker a bill, entitled, An act to lay out a road in Worcester
county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, from the committee, delivers
to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to enable the
mayor and city council of Baltimore to introduce water into the said city;
which was read the first time and
ordered to lie on the table.
On motion, ORDERED, That the said bill have a second
reading on Thursday next, and that notice thereof be
published in the several news-papers in the city of Baltimore.
The bill for the relief of Henry King and Philip Stover,
was read the second time by especial order and
passed.
The house adjourns till to-morrow morning 9 o'clock

THE house met. Present the same members as
on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.
A petition from Christopher Walker, and others, praying
an act may pass to lay off and open a road from
his mill across the Falls of Patapsco, and through Baltimore county towards
the city of Baltimore, was preferred,
read, and referred to Mr. Worthington, Mr. Smith, of Baltimore, and Mr.
Love, to consider and report
thereon.
