The truth of the matter according to the circumstances of the Evidences the depositions
& his Recognizance taken by Capt: David Browne one of his Lopps Justices of the peace
for this County as hereafter is expressed vizt Henry ffrear Henry Phillips Abraham -
--th= Anthony Goldsmith & Matthew Dorman who haveing declared the Truth according to the
best of their knowledge before the Court & the said Jury the aforesd: jury makes this
Returne of their verdict vizt Guilty of Rideing the horse Whereupon it was ordered by
the said Court the said 13th: day of June anno 1688 That the Sheriff of this aforesaid -
County of Somersett take the aforesd: Henry Smith into his Custody & that upon his bare
back he give him five Stripes wch: was accordingly executed alsoe to keep him in
his Custody untill he give Sufficient Securitty for his good behaviour & abeareance
Dureing pleasure// The Same Day Comrs: as aforesaid
The Ld: propry:

Sarah Macklaugh for breach of the Sabbath contrary to Law as alsoe for Striking of her
Sister on the same Day & for her treyall puts her self upon the Court who after haveing well
Examined these following Evidences (vizt) mr:Wm Brereton John Crouch Rose Taylor & Mary
Crouch doe find that the said Sarah Macklaugh is guilty breach of Sabbath for the first time
Whereupon it was ordered by the said Court (to witt) the said 13th: day of June that the
aforesaid Sarah Macklaugh be find for this first time according to Law that shee give
Security for her good behavior: du zareing pleasure as alsoe for her fine & all other Charges
Thomas Cary stands bound for the aforesaid Sarah Macklaugh for behavior: fine & Charges &a:
The Same day John Cary was Sworne on the behalfe of the aforesd: Sarah Macklaugh as app &a:

Catherin Keaseny for bastardy appeares & ownes her fact & Saith that Wm: Knock is the
ffather of her Child Ordered that the said Catherin Keaseny have Twenty Stripes on
her bare back well laid on which was executed Lewis Trevalley bound for behavior: & Charges
The Lord propry: The Same Day
Agt: Inditement Read
Jeane Higgens for bastardy who appeares & ownes her fact & that one Denis Servant
formerly to mr: Roger Woolford is the father of her Child Ordered that the aforesaid Jeane
higgens have Twenty five lashes on her bare back well laid on which was executed
John Painter bound for her behavior: & all Charges &a:

James Barry Tanner & Jno: Goldsmith Junr: Stands bound for the good behavior: & all Charges
