The Lord propry = The deft: not appeareing Ordered that the sheriff take him into his Custody
agt: and him safely keepe Soe that he has his body (if found in his Bayliwick) before

have & here in Court producd but he the sd: James fraudulently intending the plt: to deceive of
The aforesd: hides doth deny & still doth deny to pay the same although often thereunto -
required by the plt: whereupon the plt: Saith he is damnified and hath damage to the vallew
of 2800lb: of Tobao: & thereupon brings this Suite &t = Bill read - = - - - -
Maryland Ss Know all men by these presents that I James Berry of the County of Sumrsett in the
province aforesd:Tanner doe acknowledge and Confess my Selfe to be firmly and justly indebted unto
Peter Whaples Cordwinder of the same County him his heirs or Executors: the full & just quantity
of Seaven good Suffitient large well Tanned hides of Sole Leather and alsoe Seaven good -
Suffitient upper Leather hides well Curried to be well and truly paid at or before the Tenth day
of August next that Shall happen it being for a vallueable Consideration to the true performance
Thereof I bind my Selfe my heirs and Executors: firmly by these presents Withness my hand
and Seale this 20th: day of ffebruary 1687/8 - James Berry Sealed
