June the 12th: 1689 116
The Orphants of the said John Reed deced and after Examination thereof Soo had &
Taken and the same vallued and appraized as to them Shall Seem Meet to make report
Thereof to the Justices of the Next County Court to be holden the Second Tuesday in August next
And it is further Ordered that the said Elizabeth Ellis give forthwith good and Suffitient
Security as well for her behavior: as for her appeareance at Court and paying of officers ffees
As alsoe for the paymt: of Twenty five daies worke for her fyne to William Morris at the
Devideing Creeke when by him demanded Peter Whaples & Samll: Marchmant
Came John Ellis Senr: the husband of the aforesd: Eliza: Ellis John Bratten and Hope Taylor
and did acknowledge themselves in Open Court to stand indebted unto the Lord propry: his //
heirs or Successors: Vizt: John Ellis Senr: in the sume of Thirty pounds Sterling Peter Whaples
and Samuell Marchment in the Sume of ffifteen pounds Sterling apeice to be Leavied on
Their goods & Chattles Lands & Tennamts: for the use of the Lord propry: Aforesaid =
The Condicon of this Obligacon is such that if the Above bound Elizabeth Ellis be of
the good behaviour as alsoe if the Above bound John Ellis Senr: doth performe the foregoing
Condicons made in the behalfe of his wife Eliza: Ellis that is to say that the said Elizabeth
Ellis make her personall appeareance every Court here held dureing pleasure and further
That if the said John Ellis Senr: pay unto William Morris of the Devideing Creeke =
Twenty five daies worke when demanded as alsoe pay all officers ffees As alsoe that
he the said John Ellis Senr: when performing the aforesd: worke that he find himselfe

Colebourne wife of William Colebourne Currier of this County hath feloniously stolne and
Conveighed away from John Reed late of this County deced While as the said John Reed
Lay upon his bed adeying and under the pretence of Visiting the Sick did feloniously -
Steale & Cary away severall goods and Comoditties vizt: one Camblett petticoate one ~
Linin Cap & other things She Conveyed away in her Lap which She Wore To the vallue
of Two hundred pounds of Tobacco Wherupon his Lordships Attourney Comes and Sayeth that
The said Elizabeth in Contempt of the Lawes of Almighty God & the good Lawes & institucons
of this province hath detained & yet doth detaine the Same from the Orphans of the
said Reed agt: the publick peace his Lordpps Craves Judgment may be Entered agt: her =
According to Law in that Case provided &t: - - - - - - - - - -
Came the aforesaid Elizabeth Colebourne in her proper person and pleades not guilty
and for Treyall put her Selfe upon the Countrey =
Upon which Comand was given to the Sheriff of this County to Cause to Come here Twelve
good & Lawfull Men of his Bayliwick by whome the truth of the Matter might
