Came John Kemp with his Sureties Walter Taylor and Henry Hayman and did in =
Open Court acknowledge themselves to stand indebted to the Rtt: honoble: the Lord propry: vizt:
the said John Kemp in the Sume of Thirty pounds Sterling and Walter Taylor & Henry
Hayman each in fifteen pounds Sterl: apeice to be Leavied on their goods and Chattles Lands
and Tennements for the use of the Lord propry: aforesd:
The Condicon being Such that if the above bound John Kemp shall and will be of the good
behavior: towards all his Lordpps good people as alsoe will make his personall appearrances
Every Court dureing pleasure and that he will pay all officers ffees due from him that then =

The Jurors: for the Rtt: honoble: the Lord propry: being Sworne upon the holly Evangelist at a
grand Jury held for the body of this County the second Tuesday in November last past Doe
present and find that Lawrence Young upon the Sabbath day of the Mounth anno Domi 1686
in weeding time most Atheistically Wickedly and prophanely Did vilify & blaspheme ~
God almighty and did openly declare that the holly and Sacred Word of God Contained in the
Bible knowen by the name of the Old and New Testament was false and not one word of
Truth in them wch: said Young was Soe wicked as to declare and publish wch: said Atheisticall //
Expression the Devills themselves dare not to Express as denying the religion explaned
and made Manifest in the said Word whereby he hath declared himselfe an Ennemy to -
God that gave him life and breadth our Savior: Jesus Christ and Salvacon by him and the
holly Ghost that inspired the holly men of God to give forth the word Wherefore his Lordpps
Attourney Craves judgmt: may be entred agt: the said Young According to the Meritt of the said

Upon which Came Lawrence Young in his proper person and pleaded not guilty & for his
Treyall putt himselfe upon the Country - - - - - - - - - - -
Whereupon Comand was given to the sheriff of this County to Cause to come here Twelve
good & Lawfull men of his Bayliwick by whome &t: and who neither &t: to recognize &t:
because as well &t: - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Now here at this day (Vizt:) the 12th: day of June in the xiiiith: yeare of his Lordpps
Domion &a: Annoge Domi 1689 Came the said Lawrence young to the barr and the =
Jurors: of that Jury likewise Came that is to Say John West William Densem George
Lane John Heath Wm: Richardson Hope Taylor Thomas Morris John Jones Marsey
ffountain John ffreeman Walter Talbert and John Barker who being elected Treyed
and Sworne to Say the truth in the premisses upon the Oaths doe say wee of the Jury doe
finde Lawrence young guilty
It was therefore Ordered by this Court that the sheriff of this County take the aforesd: =
Lawrence Young into Custody and that on his bare back well laid on he give him Thirty
Stripes which was executed as alsoe that the said Lawrence Young give good & Suff(icient)
Securitty as well for his behavior: as for his appance every Court dureing pleasure
