June the 12th: 1689 = 111
Or Meate soe found togeather with the said person Or persons with whome the same shall be
found before the next magistrate for this County that soe he or they may be proceeded agt:
According to Law faile not as you will answer the Contrary Given under my hand at Wiccomoco
in the County aforesd: this 26th: day of October 1688 Wm: Brereton
To Thomas Gordon deputed to Search as aforesd: and to make returne of this warrt:
By vertue of the above Warrt: upon Search was found in the plantation belonging to -
William Collins and Lawrence Young John Kemp Sogerning with them October the 27th-28th =
1688 a forty gallon Caske of porke hid in a New brush ffence under an Old Tree one hoggs gutts
fresh by the banck side by Lawrence Youngs in Collins pattato patch was found One hoggs gutts
buried Togeather with Liver and Lights in a well neare youngs house was found Three hoggs
gutts one hoggs harslett and the Call and fatt upon all of them in Collins house Two flitches of -
Bacon green Two gords of ffatt and some Young porke Salted at Lawrence youngs a side
of Bacon and some Young porke Salted in a Trea? hid in the Doug hill and Covered with wood
In the said youngs house Severall Soarts of Meate and did Seeme to be killd at Severall times
In the well at Lawrence Youngs where the hoggs gutts was found were the hornes of a beast
about a yeare and a halfe Old and one horne of abeast of about Seaven Years Old togeather
with haire and Tallow &ca: - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The same day Vizt: the 12th day of June in the xiiiith: yeare of the Domion of the Rtt: honoble:
Charles &ca: Annoge Domi 1689 Came the aforesd: Lawrence Young and John Kemp in
Their proper persons and pleaded not guilty and for their Treyall put themselves upon the
Countrey Whereupon Comand was given to the Sheriff of this County to Cause to come here Twelve
good and Lawfull men of his Bayliwick by whome &a: and who neither &a to recognize &a:
because as well &a: Now here at this day to witt the 12th: day of June as aforesaid Came the
parties aforesd: and the Jurors of that Jury likewise came vizt: John King Rowland Beevens -
Robert Smith John Townesend Senr: John Emmett John Swain John Bowen William Clarkson
George Phebus George Bosman Walter Taylor and Henry Hayman who being Elected treyed
and Sworne to Say the truth in the premisses upon their oaths doe Say Wee the Jury doe finde
for my Lord propry: agt: Lawrence young but find John Kemp not guilty of matter of fact -
Whereupon it is ordered by this Court that the said Lawrence Young stand in the pillory -
for Two houres togeather as alsoe that he pay to the persons greivd ffour ffowle according
To act of assembly and the meate found in his possession now in the Custody of Capt: Jno: Winder
be taken in part paymt: of the said ffour ffowle by the persons soe greivd the said Capt: John Winder
being ordered to pay the said meate when demanded and it is further Ordered by this Court
That the said Lawrence Young and John Kemp give good and Suffitient Securitty as well for
Their behavior: and appeareances every Court dureing pleasure as for the paymt: of officers ffees
Came the aforesaid Lawrence Young and acknowledged himselfe in Open Court to stand indebted
unto the Rtt: honoble: the Lord propry: in the sume of Thirty pounds Sterling and John Bounds &
Andrew Whittington his Sureties each in ffifteen pounds Sterling apeice to be Leavied on their
goods & Chattles Lands and Tennements for the use of the Lord propry: aforesd: - - - - -
The Condicon being Such that if the above bounden Lawrence Young shall & will be of the good
behavior: & abeareance and make his prsonall appance every Cort duering pleasure as alsoe pay all
officers ffees then the above Obligacon to be void &ca: - - - - - - - -
