SomrSett Ss Wm: Hately late of this County was Summoned to answer unto mr Charles Ballard
in an accon of y Case ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Whereupon y Said Charles Ballard by his attorney Edward Jones Saith yt y aforeSaid William about
y moneth of July last past in y yeare one thousand Six hundred Seaventy became indebted unto y
aforesaid Ballard in y sum of forty & two pounds of porke as Doth appeare by accompt which accot
wee have here to produce in Cort: whereupon y Said William Did promise & assume upon himSelfe
to pay unto y aforeSaid Ballard y Summ of forty two pounds of porke when thereunto required
but y aforesaid William little regarding his promise but fraudulently intending him to Deceive
in y Summ of forty & two pounds of porke whereupon y said Ballard Saith hee is Damnified & hath
Damadge to y value & Cost of eighty four pounds of porke whereupon hee brings his Suit ~ ~ ~

yt hee renders one thousand pounds of tobacco which hee owes & unjustly Detaineth: ~ ~ ~
And whereupon y Said Wm: by his attorney Tho: Poole Saith yt hee y said Robert became indebted
unto him y aforesaid Greene in Sum of one thousand pounds of Tobacco as Doth appeare pr bill under
his hand & Seal bearing Date y 14th Day of Janrs: in y yeare 1674: wherein y aforesd Robt: Did
assume upon himselfe & bind himselfe his heirs executors, or admrs: to pay or cause to bee paid unto
y aforesaid Greene of y County & province aforesaid to him his heirs or assignes y aforesaid 1000lb
of Tobacco & Casqe which bill wee have in Cort: to produce but y aforesaid Robert this promise &
assumpcon Little regarding but fraudulently intending him to Deceive of 1000lb of Tobacco:
