Som^rSett Ss W^m: Hately late of this County was Summoned to answer unto m^r Charles Ballard
in an accon of y Case ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Whereupon y Said Charles Ballard by his attorney Edward Jones Saith y^t y aforeSaid William about
y moneth of July last past in y yeare one thousand Six hundred Seaventy became indebted unto y
aforesaid Ballard in y sum of forty & two pounds of porke as Doth appeare by accompt which acc^ot
wee have here to produce in Co^rt: whereupon y Said William Did promise & assume upon himSelfe
to pay unto y aforeSaid Ballard y Summ of forty two pounds of porke when thereunto required
but y aforesaid William little regarding his promise but fraudulently intending him to Deceive
in y Summ of forty & two pounds of porke whereupon y said Ballard Saith hee is Damnified & hath
Damadge to y value & Cost of eighty four pounds of porke whereupon hee brings his Suit ~ ~ ~

of y Case ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Whereupon y said Greene by his attorney Thomas Poole saith y^t hee y said Hemming became
indebted unto him y aforesaid Greene upon y 18^th Day of august in y yeare one thousand Six hundred
Seaventy five y just summ of fiveteene hundred & two pounds of tobacco as pr accompt in Co^rt
will appeare Signed with y hand of him y aforesaid Hemmings whereupon y pl^t: Saith hee
is Damnified & hath Damage to y value of Two Thousand five hundred pounds of tobacco &
thereupon brings his Suit: / : pr quer Thos Poole : / :
And y said W^m: Greene brings the acc^ot: which am^ts to 1502^lb of tobacco Signed by y Def^t
Tho: Hemming and Thomas Watkins appeares & before y Co^rt: makes oath upon y holy
Evangelist That Thomas Hemming owned y said acco^t then produced & put his name to y
Same; y plainteffe humbley prayes for an attachment this Co^rt: orders y^t an attachment (
(according to act of assembly in Such cases bee issued forth on y goods Chattells Debts & Creditts
of Thomas Hemming to answ^r: unto W^m: Greene in an accon of y Case ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Som^rsett Ss: Robert: Hignett late of this County was Summoned to answ^r unto W^m: Greene in a plea
y^t hee renders one thousand pounds of tobacco which hee owes & unjustly Detaineth: ~ ~ ~
And whereupon y Said W^m: by his attorney Tho: Poole Saith y^t hee y said Robert became indebted
unto him y aforesaid Greene in Sum of one thousand pounds of Tobacco as Doth appeare pr bill under
his hand & Seal bearing Date y 14^th Day of Jan^rs: in y yeare 1674: wherein y afores^d Rob^t: Did
assume upon himselfe & bind himselfe his heirs executo^rs, or adm^rs: to pay or cause to bee paid unto
y aforesaid Greene of y County & province aforesaid to him his heirs or assignes y aforesaid 1000^lb
of Tobacco & Casqe which bill wee have in Co^rt: to produce but y aforesaid Robert this promise &
assumpcon Little regarding but fraudulently intending him to Deceive of 1000^lb of Tobacco:
