Sommersett in the Province of Maryland hatter for A valuable Consideracon in hand recd doth
Confeste my Selfe to owe and firmly Stand indebted unto Wm Brittingham of ye County
of Northampton in Virginia the full & Just quantity of one Thousand foure hundred
pounds of good Sound Marchantable Tobacco in Caske to him his heires executrs: admrs:
or assignes to be paid upon demand after the Tenth day of october next ensueing
Convenient on Pocomoke river, In Confirmacon and true performance of the Same
I binde me my heires executors: admrs: or assignes firmly by these presents as

ffoure hundred & three pounds of tobacco attached in the hands of Robert Houston: Six hundred and
Seaventy pounds of Tobacco in the hands of John Williams eighty pounds of Tobacco in the
hands of German Gillett ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
And William Greene by Henry Smith his attorney Cometh & defendeth the force & Injury
& Saith yt the plte hath recd part Satisfaccon by a horse of the said Hemming wch: the said Hemming
made over to the said Brittingham This Court ordrs the hearing of this Cause ye next -

And the Said Henry by his Attorney Edward Jones Saith that the Said John became indebted unto the
Said Henry the Sume of nine hundred and Ten pounds of tobacco & Caske as pr accot here in
Cort produced more plainely will appeare but the said John fraudulently intending
refuseth to pay the aforeSaid Sume of 910l: of tob & Caske although there unto Severall times
bin demanded whereby the Said Henry is Damnified & hath Damadge to the vallue of
Two Thousand pounds of Tobacco & Caske & thereupon brings this Suite/ pro quer Edwr Jones

to him: & that the deft promised to pay Sherife & Clerkes fees last year rwhen he was
Sued: The plte Craves order agt the Sherife for his Debt the said John Anderson being arested
& appeares neither by himself nor attorney. And Captn Wm Colebourne Sherife of this County
made appeare that the deft was gon or upone goeing over the bay with A runaway -
whereby the Said John if he had not gon woulld have Come to Damadges:And thereupon
this Cort ordrs the hearing of this Cause the next County Cort ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
