fortieth year of the Dominion of the Rt: honble: Caecilius Ao
Do: 1671 before his Lopps: Justices thereunto assigned & Authorised
mr: William Stevens . . . . mr: James Jones . .
present mr: John White . . . . . . mr: George Johnson Commrs
mr: Henry Smith . . . . . . Capta: Wm Colebourne
mr: Henry Smith riseth off the board
Whereas mr: Henry Smith of this County made A
Proposition to the Commissioners of this County That if
they woulld give unto him all the Amercements that
are Due from the Severall persons Cast in there Sutes in
this County Cort: (or that Shoulld Arive due upon the
same Accompt till January Cort: next Inclusive) according
to Act of Assembly That then he the said Henry Smith
woulld at his owne Cost and Charges at the head of Back
Creeke of Manoakin upon the plantacon where Tho: Poole
lately lived (and where the Cort: for this County was formerly
kept) Cause to be made provided and Sett up A paire of
Stocks and Ducking Stoole and other things appointed by
Act of Assembly to be made and provided at the Charge
of the County for the punishing of offenders within
this County which Proposicon was accepted of by the
Major part of the Commrs: of this County whereupon
at A Cort: helld for this County in January last past It
was ordered that the Amercements aforesaid Shoulld be
paid to the said Henry Smith he being to provide what
