Whereas I Thomas Mathew have Sold unto Cornelius Johnson
one Sloope I Doe hereby promise to give unto the said Cornelius
one barrell of Tarr and to Cause my Smith to doe Such work as
he Shall Desire to be necessarily Done to the rudder Irons he
bringing them to the shopp of the said Thomas to be done and to
give him as much thinne board of oake or pyne as Shall be Sufficient
to sheath the Lower part of the Rudder and Likewise to give
him seaven hundred foot of halfe inch or three quarter inch
pine board to Sheath her with he giveing timely notice when he
woulld have the said boards Sawne alsoe ffoure Thousand of six
penny nayles and five hundred of ten penny and five hundred
of twenty penny nayles and twenty yards of french Canvas
wittnes my hand the 24th: day of January 1671

is to make his last payment of twelve thousand pounds of tobacco
