464 MARYLAND COURT OF APPEALS

Court of [sic] Chancery to us Directed We have taken the Deposition of John
Hodsin Senr of Dorchester County Gent as touching the bounds of two Tracts
of Land the one Called Sector and the other Camberleg in Controversie be-
tween the heirs of Wm Seward and Thos Hicks of Dorchester County Gent.
Which Deposition Runs as followeth Vizt That old Mr Barthl Ennalls about
forty years agone Shewed unto him the Deponent a bounded red Oake tree
Standing near a Marsh on the north Side of Chicknomico River a Litle below
the County Road and told the Deponent that that Same tree was the first
Bounder of two Tracts of Land Taken up by a Certain George Seward Some-
time before that, and further this Deponent Saith not

Wee Likewise Certifie that upon our veiw the Said bounded tree is now
Down and perishing Somthing below a Landing place Opositt to the Planta-
tion of a Certain Daniel Cox in Dorchester County.

Given under our hands and Seales this 26th Day of June Anno Dom 1716

Interrogatories to be ministred to John Hudson Senr aged Sixty five
years or thereabouts produced on the part and behalf of Mary and Anne
Seward Daughters of Wm Seward by Benja Woodward [662] and Uxr Comp!'
and Thomas Hicks DeP in a Cause Depending in the high Court of Chancery
etc. as followeth

Imprimis. Do you know Mary and Anne Seward Daughters of W" Seward
Deced and Did you know George Seward the Supposed father of Wil-
liam Seward. This Deponent Saith that he knows Mary and Anne Seward
the reputed Daughters of Wm Seward Who Was the reputed Son of George
Seward. Item How long it is Since you knew the afd Seward and Like-
wise Do you know any thing of Surveying or Taking up two Tracts of
Land Lying near the head of Chiconacomaco Called Secter and Camber-
lake. This Deponent Saith that about forty years or thereabouts he was
Acquainted with the afd George Seward Which was the reputed [sic] of the
afd Wm Seward and that this George Seward took up two Tracts of Land near
the head of Chiconacomaco Called Secter and Camberlake as he was Informed
by Bartholomew Ennalls who Shewed him the first bounded Tree which was
a red Oake of the afd Secter and Camberlake and that he Shewed him the
Said Seward the Two Tracts of Lands to Take up and further That Thomas
Pattison who was Surveyor Shewed him the Same Tree and Said it was the
first bounded tree of the afd Tracts of Lands and that he Surveyed the Same
for the afd Seward and that either the afd Ennalls or Pattison Shewed him a
Second bounded tree which he Said Was the Second bounded tree of Secter.
— Item — Do you know who at present Lines [sic] upon the af. Said Lands
and is in possession thereof. And further to the Said Interrogatories the
Said Deponent John Hudson Saith that Leaven Hicks Son of Thos Hicks
Defendant is in possession of the afd Lands Sworn before us the Subscribers
the Seventh day of July Anno Dom 1718. —And further Question for the
