And the Said Thomas Gassaway protesting that on the Day of the mak-
ing the writeing Obligatory aforesaid to Witt the Twentieth day of October
in the year Seventeen hundred and Eleven aforesaid after the making the
Writeing Obligatory aforesaid he the Said Thomas Gassaway at the request
of the Said John Gresham Did Assign and Set Over unto the Said John
Gresham his Exrs Admrs or Assigns by a proper Instrument under the hand
of the Said Thomas Gassaway all Such publick and County Allowances
Which are usually Allowed to the Sheriff of the County aforesaid for Col-
lecting and paying the publick and County Leveys and all other fees profitts
and Rewards belonging or in anywise appertaining to the Sheriff of the Said
County and all prison Fees and Accounts and Ballances of Accounts that
Should and Might at any Time appear to be Due in respect to the Said office
Without fraud or delay Which Said Instrument follows in these words Vizt

This Indenture made the Twentieth day of October in the year of our
Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Eleven Between Thomas Gassaway
Sheriff of the County of Annarundell Gent in the Province of Maryland on
the one part and John Gresham Jun Gent of the Said County and Province
on the other Witnesseth that it is Covenanted granted and Agreed by the
Said parties That is to Say Thomas Gassaway Sheriff doth by these presents
Ordain Constitute depute and make the Said John Gresham his under
Sheriff in the Said County of Annarundell And to have Occupy and Enjoy
the Said office of under Sheriff there to the Said John Gresham dureing all
Such time as the Said Thomas Gassaway Shall [594] Continue and be in
Authority of the Office of Sheriff of the Said County by Vertue and Author-
ity of our Sovereign Lady the Queen's Majesties Letters Patents of the office
of Sheriff there to him directed and also that he the Said Thomas Gassaway
doth by these presents grant to the Said John Gresham that he Shall and may
take receive Demand and have during the Said Term all manner of fees re-
