whereas the afd William Stone the thirteenth day of August in the year of
our Lord God Seventeen hundred and twelve at Annarundell County by
his Certain Writing Obligatory did Acknowledge himself to be holden and
firmly bound unto her late Majesty Queen Ann of Great Brittain etc: in the
afd two hundred thousand pounds of Tobacco to be paid unto the said
Queen her heirs and Successors when he should be Afterwards thereunto re-
quired Nevertheless the afd William Stone altho, Off ten required the afd
two hundred thousand pounds of Tobacco to the said Late lady the Queen
or to the now Lord the King hitherto to render hath refused and the Same
to the said Lord the King to Render still doth refuse to the Damage of the
said Lord the King four hundred thousand pounds of Tobacco and this the
said Thomas Bordley for our said Lord the King is ready to verifie etc. and
he brings hereinto Court [566] The writing Obligatory afd which testifies
the Debt afd in form afd whose date is the day and year above said etc.
And the said William Stone by Daniel Dulany his Attorney Comes and
Defends the force and Injury when etc. and prays a hearing of the Writing
Obligatory afd which is read unto him he also prays a hearing of the Condi-
tion of the same Writting Obligatory and it is read unto him in these words
following Vizf The Cdndition of the above Obligation is such that if the
above bounden Thomas Dent do well and truely serve her said Majesty her
heirs and Successors in the Office of high Sherriff of the County of Charles
within the Province afd and also shall render unto her said Majesty and other
her Officers a true faithfull and perfect Account of All and Singular her said
Majesties Rights and dues and to her Officers a true and Just account of their
Fees that he shall or may be Intrusted with by her Majestys Governour and
all other her Officers within this Province to receive and Collect and his
account to her said Majesty her heirs and Successors and to her and their
Governour there for the time being for the fines and forfeiturs and other
dues belonging to her said Majesty's Governour as also his Account of All
his fees dues and Sums of Money or Tobacco for Levys or fees due to any
her Majestys Officers or other good people within this Province shall pass an
Account of by the tenth day of April next Ensuing the date hereof and in
all other things as Sherriff of the County of Charles shall behave himself well
and honestly towards all people According to the best of his power skill and
Knowledge and Then this Obligation to be Void and of no Effect or Else
to stand in full force Strength and Vertue.
[567] Which being read and heared the said William Stone by his Attorney
afd prays Leave to Imparle hereunto untill next Court and he hath it and
the same day is given to the said Thomas Bordley Esqr Attorney Generall
who etc: also.
Att which said next Court to Witt the 13th day of October Anno Domi
1719 Come again as well the said Thomas Bordley Esqr Attorney Genll who
