Queen defender of the faith etc. To the Sherriff of Talbot County greeting
Whereas at A Provinciall Court held at Annapolis the Seaventh day of
October Anno Dom Seaventeen Hundred and one in A cause then and
there depending between Hugh Hall Administrator of all and Singular the
goods and chatties which were of Hugh Hall his father deceased plantiff
And James Edmondson Son and heir of John Edmondson deceas'd Defend-
ant otherwise called John Edmondson of Talbot County in the Province
of Maryland Merchant deceas'd Defendant the said Plantiff recovered Judg-
ment against the said Defendant as well for the Sume of Fifty four pounds
Eight shillings and three pence Sterling the ballance of A certain debt of
Two hundred Forty two pounds Sterling whereof he is convict as the Sume
of Six hundred Ninety one pounds of tobaccoe for costs of Suite in that be-
half layd out and expended and for that Execution thereof still remains to
be made And whereas the said James Edmondson Son and heir of the said
John as Aforesaid is since deceased as by the insinuation of the said Hugh
Hall Administrator as aforesd we have received We Comand you that by
good and lawfull men of your ballywick you make knowne unto Magdalen
Edmondson Admintr of all and Singular the goods and Chatties rights and
Creditts of the said James Edmondson late of Calvert County Gentn Son
and heir of the said John as aforesaid that she be and Appear before the
Justices of our provinciall Court To be held at Annapolis the last tuesday
in September next to shew cause if any she have why Execution of the Debt
and costs of the Judgment aforesaid Specified to be [222] recovered Should
not in the name of him the said Hugh Hall administrator as aforesaid be
Issued against the goods Chatties of the said James Edmondson Adminis-
trator as aforesaid in the hands of the said Admstratrix Magdalen Edmond-
son remaining to be Administred (if to her it shall seem meet And how you
shall Execute this writt that you make known to our Justices at the day and
place aforesaid and have you then there this Writt etc.
At which said last Tuesday in September Anno Dni 1703 comes the said
Sheriff and makes returne of his said Writt that he hath made known unto
the said Magdalen Edmondson that she be and appear etc. According to
the Exaction of the said Writt before John Michaell and Edward Hambleton
two good and lawfull men etc. Whereupon the said Magdalen Edmondson
Administratrix as aforesaid by Robert Gouldesborough her Attorney comes
and Defends the force and Injury when etc. and prays liberty to Imparle
hereunto untill next Court and he [sic] hath it and the same day is given the
plantiff also.
At Which next Court to witt the Sixteenth day of May Anno Dmi One
Thousand Seaven Hundred and four comes again the said Parties by their
Attorney Aforesaid and the said Defendant altho' Solemnly calld says noth-
ing in barr or Avoidance of the Scire facias aforesaid nor doth she by her
self or Attorney shew any cause why Execution should not be Issued etc.
